First Aid Courses

All of the below courses are held within our classroom at our head office in Roche. Onsite courses can also be carried out, please email for more information and costs.

 

Candidates must be 16 years old, unless otherwise stated. Class sizes are set to a maximum of 12 people, unless otherwise stated. All courses have practical and theoretical sessions which must be successfully completed to allow for certification.

Basic lifesaving & AED

FAA level 2 - Basic life support & safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

 

This four hour course will cover a range of subjects, including: -

 

  • Responsibilities & reporting
  • Resuscitation
  • Defibrillation process
  • Dealing with unresponsive casualties

Emergency first aid at work (EFAW)

 

FAA level 3 - emergency first aid at work

 

This one day course will cover a range of subjects, including: -

 

  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Epilepsy
  • Resusciation & AED use
  • Minor injuries

First aid at work (FAW)

 

FAA level 3 - First aid at work

 

This three day course covers a range of subjects, including: -

 

  • Shock (including anaphylaxis)
  • Head injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Control of bleeding & bandaging
  • Resuscitation & AED use
  • Heart attacks

Paediatric emergency first aid

 

FAA level 3 - Paediatric emergency first aid

 

This one day course covers a range of subjects, including: -

  • Role of a paediatric first aider
  • Wounds, bleeding & shock
  • Choking
  • Minor injuries
  • Resuscitation

Paediatric first aid

 

FAA level 3 - Paediatric first aid

 

This two day course covers a range of subjects, including: -

  • Minor injuries
  • Wounds, bleeding & shock
  • Seizures
  • Meningitis
  • Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis

Certification upon successful completion, valid for three years

Immediate management of anaphylaxis

 

FAA level 3 - Immediate management of anaphylaxis

 

This one day course covers the subject so that the learner will be able to: -

  • Describe anaphylaxis 
  • Identify key features of auto injectors
  • Demonstration of the recovery position
  • Demonstration of resuscitation for adult or child
  • Identify triggers
  • Explain treatment

Oxygen therapy administration 

 

FAA level 3 - Oxygen therapy administration 

 

This one day course will allow the learner to: -

  • Explain the benefits of oxygen therapy
  • Explain the dangers of compressed gas
  • Outline health & safety rules
  • Administer oxygen

The mini medics course is aimed at children aged 8-11, and gives a basic introduction into first aid and defibrillation. It is kept to a basic level with no confusing terminology, whilst making it educational and highlight the important of helping someone who is poorly and/or injured.

 

The Mini Medics course is 3 hours in duration, depending on the syllabus you want covered. The course includes educational, theoretical and practical teaching sessions. We also have a 1-hour short course to fit in with school lessons and after school clubs.
